Park Grove Residence

Transitional / Coastal Interior Design

A sophisticated transformation by CURATED., a Miami Beach-based design firm led by Austrian-born CEO and Creative Director Melanie Haselmayr, has breathed new life into an ultra-luxury Two Park Grove residence, located in Miami's bayfront Coconut Grove neighborhood.

The residence itself, bathed in warm sunlight and boasting breathtaking panoramic views, reflects the client's love for the French aesthetic while embracing the best of contemporary Miami. This residence exemplifies CURATED.'s signature approach: thoughtfully blending functionality, innovative solutions, and a touch of European allure to create a timeless and inviting space that deeply reflects the client's individual personality.

The design narrative for this project revolved around the client's desire for a minimalist approach inspired by transitional and coastal notes; a space that also evokes the essence of a Parisian pied-à-terre for use during their Miami getaways from New York. Haselmayr and her team cleverly maximized the unit's potential, ensuring every detail resonated with the client's deeply personal vision.

"First impressions are everything,” states Haselmayr, “and we wanted the entryway to truly transport you to a different world. The custom monochromatic countryside mural we created conjures a sense of serenity and charm. It sets the tone for the entire residence, a place of escape and quiet sophistication."

The key design challenge in this project lay in optimizing the living space to take full advantage of the unit's panoramic water-view vistas. By strategically positioning furniture away from the neighboring buildings (including the Ritz Carlton and the old Kaufman building that is being redeveloped into a Four Seasons Residences), CURATED. ensured the living room is optimized for soaking in the majestic Biscayne Bay views, a central feature for the client's getaway space.

The existing kitchen presented a bit of a conundrum. Closed off from the dining area, it lacked a sense of connection and flow. Seizing an opportunity to get creative, CURATED. designed an innovative custom-built oak veneer library with an integrated desk, ladder, and a secret door that seamlessly blends with the existing cabinetry. This ingenious solution not only provides additional functionality but also adds a touch of playful intrigue.

Lighting is an art form, and in this project, it became a problem-solving tool as well,” states Haselmayr. “A dropped soffit above the dining area presented a lighting challenge. We explored various options, but ultimately, the stunning Diva Perché Wall Lamp by SWADOH emerged as the perfect answer to transform the limitation into opportunity. Its minimalist design and warm glow beautifully complemented the overall visual intent, while providing the essential illumination desired for the dining space.

Moving through the residence, it’s evident that CURATED. drew inspiration from their client's love for all things French. The entryway mirror and geometric pouf add a touch of functionality and understated luxury. A playful armoire provides ample storage in the guest room without sacrificing space. Neutral tones, carefully considered furniture selections, and brass art lighting in the living room evoke a sense of Parisian chic.

Beyond the undeniable European influence, this project also embraces the best of Miami living. The use of light woods and natural stone accents and accessories throughout the residence brings a contemporary feel to the space. Pops of greenery and the delightfully surprising whimsy of powder room wallpaper rich with a monkey and banana tree motif, burst with color in a nod to Miami's vibrant art scene. Through the windows, the skylines and magnificent, sun-glistened blues of Biscayne Bay serve to provide a most-welcome sense of South Florida place.

"This project was truly a journey of blending the client's love for French elegance with the vibrancy of Miami,” states Haselmayr. “We took cues from classic Parisian apartments – the focus on clean lines, neutral tones, and pops of sophisticated color. But we also ensured the space felt light and airy, maximizing the incredible views and incorporating touches of Miami's modern luxury. The interplay of styles results in a space that feels like a far-flung escape, yet also remains undeniably connected to its coveted South Florida surroundings."
